Virtual Scrum Simulation with DB Schenker
As part of the IT project management course at the SITM Chair, students participated in a virtual Scrum simulation on June 24 and 25, 2021. This was organized in cooperation with the logistics company DB Schenker.
In the highly interactive workshop, participating students formed three Scrum teams to develop a unique product with a Product Owner from DB Schenker and a Scrum Master they selected for each team.
During product development, the participants organized themselves independently and worked intensively within their team as well as across the three teams to deliver an innovative solution together. The goal was always to meet the needs of the product's stakeholders.
The blended Scrum simulation had the following contents: the acquisition of theoretical Scrum knowledge, the development of user stories and a user story map for a product vision, agile effort estimation with story points and product creation with Scrum in three sprints with the Scrum events and artifacts. In addition, the participants gained experience in scaling Scrum with Large-Scale Scrum (LeSS).
The workshop was facilitated by Thomas Rickal and Florian Schomers from DB Schenker. At the end of the workshop, participants received a certificate.
The feedback from the participants was very positive. The students felt enriched and had the feeling of being in a real Scrum scenario. This was mainly due to the rousing concept and the serious implementation of the organizers.
Thus, 15 selected participants successfully completed the workshop with enthusiasm. At the end of the workshop, the participants received a certificate.
