Successful presentation of the track “Strategisches IT-Management” at MKWI 2018

Last week, Prof. Frederik Ahlemann (Universität Duisburg-Essen), Prof. Nils Urbach (Universität Bayreuth), and Prof. Reinhard Schütte (Universität Duisburg-Essen) led the track "Strategisches IT-Management" (strategic IT management) at this years' Information System conference "Multikonferenz Wirtschaftsinformatik (MKWI)" in Lüneburg, Germany. This track allowed researchers and practitioners to present and discuss current research results in the context of strategic IT management. Topics suggested for the paper submissions were, for instance, innovative models and tools for strategic IT management, business-IT alignment, IT governance, and more. Prof. Schütte also moderated a panel discussion about the question "IT-Management im Rückblick - 20 Jahre ohne (echten) Fortschritt" (IT management in retrospect - 20 years without (real) progress?) with his guest Dr. Schaudel (McKinsey), Mr. Möltgen (Berner Group), Prof. Ahlemann, and Prof. Urbach. The conclusion of this important discussion was that IT management has changed significantly and has diversified substantially compared to the situation 20 years ago. However, many open questions still need to be solved.  The MKWI is one of the largest German-language conferences in the Information Systems discipline. The conference takes place every second year and provides researchers, IT executives, and students with a platform to present and discuss current issues in the Information Systems discipline.
